An editorial spread I created back in 2021 in my GBDA101 class at the University of Waterloo. This editorial spread details my retrospection of my journey of finding myself and explores the role of being the first immigrant generation Pakistani daughter.
Research
For this to happen I had to dive deep into who I am making this brand of being real and authentic. Throughout my years growing up I was trying to find myself, an identity that I could belong to.I kept searching and searching trying to be somebody who I was not.
However, one day I realized that finding my identity is a process that will come in time and I finally after experiencing things in my life I know who I am. Creating this magazine I came to a conclusion my identity stems from being a first generation daughter of an immigrant family a magazine that shows a journey.
I created a vision board to help gather my ideas to show my identity, I begin by assessing the major keystones I wanted to cover within my magazine, which was: The introduction of my love for exploring the City of Toronto and my evolving growth in embracing my culture and knowing my identity more.

Strategy

The challenge that I had with this project was how I wanted to outlay my project since there was a lot of material that I wanted to show to represent me. As some pictures looked overwhelming together. As a solution I created wireframes to know which layout suited the best and it reflected what I like to show in pictures. This colour palette represents my identity because the pinks and whites show my girly side which I often show in my culture and the black, gray and royal blue are my bold and vibrant side that is being trustworthy.
